Double Chance Betting Explained

Double chance lets you back two of the three 1X2 outcomes in one bet: 1X (home or draw), 12 (home or away), or X2 (draw or away). It raises your win chance at lower odds.

How it works

Choose one of three combinations. 1X wins if the home team wins or draws; X2 wins if the away team wins or draws; 12 wins if either team wins (only a draw loses).

Because two outcomes are covered, odds are shorter than a single 1X2 selection.

Worked example

Scenario: 1X (home or draw) priced at 1.30, you stake €10. The match ends 1–1.

Outcome: A draw is covered by 1X, so the bet wins: you return €13.

Pros

  • Higher strike rate
  • Good for cautious bets on favourites or in-form underdogs
  • Simple to understand

Cons

  • Low odds reduce value
  • Often beaten by draw no bet for backing a favourite

Frequently asked questions

What does 1X mean?

1X wins if the home team wins or the match is drawn; only an away win loses.

Is double chance better than 1X2?

It wins more often but at lower odds. It suits risk-averse bets; experienced bettors often prefer draw no bet or Asian handicap for better value.
