Accumulator (Parlay) Betting Explained
An accumulator (parlay/acca) combines multiple selections into one bet. The odds multiply for a bigger potential payout, but every selection must win for the bet to pay out.
How it works
Add two or more selections to one slip. The combined odds are the product of each selection's odds, so returns grow quickly.
If any single selection loses, the whole accumulator loses. Some bookmakers offer acca insurance or one-leg-fails refunds.
Worked example
Scenario: Three selections at 1.5, 2.0 and 1.8; you stake €10. Combined odds = 5.4.
Outcome: If all three win, you return €54 (€10 × 5.4). If any loses, the bet loses.
Pros
- Large payouts from a small stake
- Exciting across multiple matches
- Flexible — combine different markets
Cons
- Win probability falls with each leg
- One losing leg sinks the whole bet
- Bookmaker margin compounds per leg

Frequently asked questions
How are accumulator odds calculated?
Multiply the decimal odds of every selection. For 1.5, 2.0 and 1.8 the combined odds are 1.5 × 2.0 × 1.8 = 5.4.
Do all selections need to win?
Yes. Every leg must win (or void) for the accumulator to pay out; one loss means the whole bet loses.
